to get to know you meme;
With summer starting to end for most of us, maybe it's a good chance to give a little "refresher" course to those still lurking around on our LiveJournals. Or perhaps you've added a new gaggle of friends from a recent friending meme going around and you want to get them better or to break the ice? Only rule - answer truthfully, and there's no need to tag unless you want to.
♥ Name you go by?
Colleen currently. It's my middle name sure, but it's quite nice. Most people offline refer to me as Shanna, my first name, but honestly there are more people who call me Colleen than anything else. It's not like I know that many people offline after all.
♥ Where you lurk (social sites, other journals, etc)
I'm on plurk constantly. I never leave. I might not check it constantly, but it's a tab that's always open. I check Tumblr every day or two, and otherwise I'm mostly on hotmail or an rp journal. I'm mostly on rp journals if I'm honest.
Most used rp journals are:
rebellingheart - Rinoa
crockshot - Artemis
Newest journals are:
fourhope - Stephanie Brown/Batgirl
asupermess - Kara Zor-El/Supergirl
♥ Birthday and signs
My birthday is January 5th. I'm a Capricorn. I might not have believed it so much when I was younger, but now it's oh so obvious.
I'm also either a Tiger or an Ox. It depends on which calendar you use.
I'm one of two things:
Fire Tiger: Expressive, vibrant and a bit eccentric, Fire Tigers are always looking at the positive side of every situation. Because they’re able to generate excitement in others, they’re considered excellent leaders. When Fire Tigers speak, others listen – and do what they’re told!
Wood Ox: Wood Oxen work well as part of a team, but because of their work ethic, self-confidence and strong sense of morals, they’ll always perform better as the team’s leader. They do have a tendency to be quick-tempered and outspoken.
I'm also a Birch if you go off the Celtic Tree Signs.
Other signs:
Burmese Animal: Garuda (a mythical bird, Hindu/Buddhist bird diety)
Celtic Animal: Stag/Deer
Native American Animal: Goose
♥ Religion
I grew up Baptist, but that obviously didn't stick.
My own personal beliefs are a rather eclectic mess that is all my own. So the closest you can really get is eclectic pagan more or less. Typically though I just refer to "The Lord and The Lady" which I tend to use as an umbrella for just about everything. I do reference specific gods/goddesses at times, but ultimately I just view them all as facets to the Two or One pretty much.
Ultimately it comes down to "It's complicated" and we'll leave it at that for now.
♥ Sexuality/relationship status
Sexuality - Questioning. I'm honestly not really sure and I haven't for a while. I'd like to say Pansexual, but in the end I'm not really sure. I think I'll just take things as they happen and go from there.
I honestly considered if I might be a Romantic Asexual before, but I've since figured it's probably just from having had really crappy sex so far. So we'll see how that goes.
♥ School?
I was a solid B average student in high school, because putting in effort was too much work. Which is funny really, because I've tested 12+ in testing since I was in sixth grade. Favored subjects are classes that involve Writing or Literature and to a lesser degree history. I despise math, and don't like fancy sciences that involve a lot of math to do them. That said I, ironically, loved covering genetics in high school and it showed in my grade. (I went from a D to a B just like that *snaps her fingers* it was a miracle.)
I hope to go back to College one day, but I doubt it'll happen anytime soon. I'm also not sure what to major in. Part of me thinks it should be something useful, but I'd honestly just rather make a career out of it. I hate schoolwork to a certain degree, but I have a passion for learning. So I could be content to just learn forever.
♥ Favorites of television/books/games/anime/music?
Television: I don't really watch that much tv. I like Smallville, Charmed, and I used to love watching Heroes though. BBC's Merlin and Robin Hood were interesting what little of them I bothered to watch. I also have a passion for makeover/fashion shows. I think I could watch How do I Look? and What not to Wear forever. I also have this secret wish to be on a show like that. Pretty much everything I own with a few exceptions is a good 3-5+ years old and even then most of it was second hand. My wardrobe, sadly, is very lacking. What I would do for a chance to revive it.
Books: Oh sweet maker, we'd be here all day. I love YA Fiction. It's almost all that I read. I do read other things on occasion, but they're few and far between.
Games: Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, Dragon Age: Origins, Legend of Zelda, Harvest Moon. I also enjoy Tales of Games, Megaman Battle Network, and what I managed to play of Persona 3. I also really enjoyed the first two Shin Megami Tensei games and I quite like Dragon Quest as well. Oh! Act Raiser, Seiken Densetsu 3, Lost Kingdom, Lost Kingdom II, Fallout 3, KOTOR, and Shining Force too.
Anime/Manga: This would be a super long list. I'll name a few though. Sailor Moon, Toradora, Macross Frontier, Rurouni Kenshin, Appleseed, Card Captor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, Escaflowne, Higashi no Eden, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Kiddy Grade, Nana, Lovely Complex, Record of Lodoss War, Scrapped Princess, Simoun, Skip Beat, Sousei no Aquarion.
Possibly Tiger & Bunny will probably end up on this list once it's finished airing.
Music: Too many to list. Oh geeze. I like k-pop, j-pop, game soundtracks, alternative, singer-songwriter, pop, techno, new age, symphonic metal, girl rock, and a bunch of other stuff. The only things I don't really do are rap, heavy metal, and most country.
♥ Tastes? (food, smells, colors, sounds)
Food: I like food. Traditional American/British "home" food, Italian, Chinese, Indian, etc. Some of my favorites are things like pan-fried pork chops, steak, most things with chicken in it, Cauliflower cheese, Japanese curry, and a whole bunch of other stuff. And that's not even getting into deserts and things like that! When it comes to food there are a few things I don't eat, but that's about it: Fish and mushrooms being my top two "DO NOT WANT" items. My favorite veggies are: broccoli, cauliflower, butter lettuce, green beans, italian beans, and sugar snap peas. My favorite fruits are: strawberries, cherries, pluots, peaches, and well... most of them. I also really like apples but only certain types. Mostly green ones like Fuji or Macintosh. Never pure red or green though. Nope nope.
Smells: It depends I guess? I don't like musky smells too much or smells that are too sweet and cloying. I love the smell of this shampoo we got a month or two ago. It's almond honey and it just smells so good! I also love the smell of strawberries, so good! Conversely, I don't like the smell of grass. At all.
Colors: Pink, blue, purple, black, and silver.
Sounds: I don't know? I like specific instruments I guess like: flutes, panpipes, violins, pianos, and that sort of thing.
♥ Quirky or strange habits?
I like to nibble on people. Ears are probably my favorite target.
♥ Languages (speak, learning, want to learn) and places you have visited/want to visit:
Spoken: English, used to be decent at French but it's been years.
Want to learn: French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Gaelic, Mandarin, Latin, Vietnamese, Korean, Italian, Elvish (Shut up I know), and... I kinda want to learn Kryptonese too. Yeah yeah laugh it up. I'm a nerd I know.
♥ Own any pets?
Nope. Rest of the family all have tropical fish though.
♥ Favorite animal? (domesticated, wild, or fictional)
Domesticated: Cats and Horses
Wild: Dolphins
Preternatural/Fictional: Do Fae count? Otherwise Pegasi I guess. Unicorns can come too. (Maybe one day I'll actually write down my theory on Unicorns and purity and how it had nothing to do with the state of ones maidenhood.)
♥ Where do you see yourself in five years?
I don't know. Sadly I'm rather shortsided and have problems seeing next month let alone five years from now. So long as I'm happy though? I'm good.
♥ Favorite quote?
"I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now?" -John Lennon
"A utility belt full of crap an a positive outlook?" - Stephanie Brown/Batgirl
Current Music: Smallville episode 5 + 6
