I've had the same layout/icons for a while now and it really felt like it was time for a change.

My layout is all new and sparkly clean. I wanted something light/bright after how dark the last one was. It's a nice change of pace, you know?

I've... put off the meme for a while now, but I guess I should actually see something through for once. So I'll go ahead and at least attempt to get back on track. I'm not doing all 14 days at once though, that'd be silly. So I'll just do day 2 for now and call it good.

Day 2 - One of your Favorite anime you’ve watched so far

Favorite anime out of everything I've ever watched ever? You don't want much from me, do you meme?

See, I find it nearly impossible to answer this question because I'm really more of a "which genre am I in the mood for?" type person. So my favorite depends on my mood and which genre I want to watch at that moment in time.

So ultimately to answer this question I looked at my still rather incomplete MAL anime list and went "Which one of these series would I watch over every other series on that list?" and that's how I came up with the answer.

Record of Lodoss War OVA

This is probably one of the first if not the first anime that I ever watched in it's entirety. After all, back in the day my parents didn't approve of anything animated that came from Japan and since I was a youngester it was harder to get around them to watch things. (my internet access wasn't so great then. Young people these days have it so easy!)

How I got the approval for watching this one, was kind of ironic really. It was during the school year and my family had arrangements to go for a vacation in Colorado for a week/week and a half. I actually begged off because I didn't want to miss that much school and for once my parents agreed to let me stay behind. Feeling unnaturally generous, they agrreed to let me rent a couple of movies for the week. (My parents knew even then that I'm too much of a goody two shoes to throw wild parties while they're away) Luckily for me, the step-dad was the one who took me out to go rent the movies. And so I asked him if I could get an anime since no one else would be home. He agreed basically because I was already 17 or so at the time anyway and "what did it hurt if I wasn't tainting anyone else in the house with my anime ways" not that he said it in those words.

Anyways, onto the anime itself now that my nostalgia is out of the way. Record of Lodoss War is, ironically, based off of someone's DnD (or a game like it) campaign. So it's actually got a pretty typical party set up. You've got the young adventurer Parn who's a total green horn but has a good heart. The old, grumpy dwarf axeman who's really a softy if you can find the right spot. The well meaning cleric, the wizard/sorcerer who wants to fully master his craft, and the hot elf chic who's good with a rapier and can summon nature spirits too. The characters are enjoyable, there's not a single one of them that I dislike. The minor characters can be pretty amazing as well even some of the villains aren't bad. The plot's pretty standard for a campaign I suppose. It's got evil kings trying to conquer and unify areas of land, secret sects who want to revive ancient goddesses of destruction, and a rogue witch from an ancient civilization who watches over everything and moves the characters around like their pawns on her cheeseboard.

Otherwise known as it's bloody fantastic and you should all watch it. Not Chronicles of the Heroic knight, that's a totally different series and mutilates some of the characters. Not Crystania either, that's another unfortunate spin off.

So now onto finding a new mood theme and updating my icons. :D

I was beginning to think I was the only person ever to watch it besides Mom.

That would have worked so much better without the typos. Bl

Damn. Oh well, I tried. Anyways yes still [livejournal.com profile] notadrowdammit. Not that I've really done anything with it mind you.

But yes, you're certainly not the only one Ariiiii~
[identity profile] nachtstar.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 08:19 pm (UTC)

But yes! AAAAAA sohappy. This pleases me greatly (and lmao Deedlits icon).
[identity profile] lumati.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 08:21 pm (UTC)
Everyone should know ROLW though! It's epic! Epic, epic, epic, epic, epic!

That's because it's my Deedlit journal, be kinda weird if it didn't have any icons of Deed on it.
[identity profile] nachtstar.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 08:25 pm (UTC)
It iiiiiiis. Kiseki no Umi is still one of my most favorite OP's of all time *A*

too true. /gets distracted watching her ears flick
[identity profile] lumati.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 08:29 pm (UTC)
It's ironic really. I love Kiseki no Umi, but I hate Chronicles of the Heroic Knight.

XD I love that icon, it's too cute.
[identity profile] nachtstar.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 08:32 pm (UTC)
Haha, same here honestly.
I actually have to dig out my bootleg VHS's and rewatch the whole series again though. Haven't rewatched it in yeeears

Totes is
[identity profile] lumati.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 08:42 pm (UTC)
When I first tried to watch it I was like "What? Parn! Stop being stupid! Of course you know Shiris and Orson! ... Wait why is Deedlit acting funny? Why's... oh fuck. I quite this sucks."

rofl, it's so much easier just to stream it online though and so much better quality half the time.

Then again that goes for Deedlit as a whole. ;A;

[identity profile] lumati.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 08:41 pm (UTC)
Who is this stranger and why are they showing up in my journal? DDD: I'm kidding!

Co-Ed School. I am obsessed with them. If you haven't seen their music video for too late you have to watch it. D: It involves awesomeness and butt shaking, and sparkly Koreans being hot over everything.
[identity profile] chosondragon.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 08:42 pm (UTC)
I AM A STRANGER and I am ashamed. ;w;

Koreans never stop sparkling, watch the hell out. ♥♥
[identity profile] lumati.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 08:46 pm (UTC)
You know, my momma always told me to never talk to stranger. Maybe I shouldn't talk to you. ._. Are you a nice stranger or a bad stranger?

... okay, I'll stop the Persona 3 references now. I swear, I've probably gotten a bajillion times nerdier since the last time you talked to me as hard as that might be to believe.

This is true. *_* I feel like such a pedo. Most of the guys are legal ,but the guy I've been slightly obsessing over's only 17. Better than my roomie's pick, she's all for Sungmin who's like... 14. I've been teasing her about being a Shota-con.

yesss do watch. it's awesome korean hip hop/pop thingy that's just fantastic and rotting my brain. And they're all so cuteeee

fffff gtfo out Yongy, no one wants you or your ahoge around here.
[identity profile] chosondragon.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 08:50 pm (UTC)
I am the best kind of stranger ever, do you doubt me and MY sparkles? :C

Nerds are great, I am not worried~~

Shota man, it happens. 8|a It's all part of their plans.

[identity profile] lumati.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 09:07 pm (UTC)
Yes, because your sparkles originated from Korea or some shit like that I bet. ._. Though I guess it's not so bad because at least they're not knock offs from China

... I don't think I can fit too many more Hetalia-inspired stereotypes in that strikeout. Random other people on my f-list who see this I'm totally not racist okay, it's totally just a joke. ;A;

I've also been much more video-gamey playing too. Also I've moved, did you know that? XD; I hear you did to though. Hyne we really should catch up on things sometime.

Yeah it does. Shota happens man, nothing you can do but accept it and move on I guess.

Because it's fun. >3

... Aaaaah noes not that anything but that. ;A;
[identity profile] chosondragon.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 09:11 pm (UTC)
China-hyung wishes his sparkles were as good as ours. >8| rofl political correctness what is that /ruined by Hetalia forever

I heard you moved! But yes we really should, holy crap.

Do not be afraid, it can be your friend. (●`ヮ´●)೨
[identity profile] lumati.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 09:16 pm (UTC)
I know right? Not that I'll ever be like "OMG GUYS LIKE LET'S DO A PHOTOSHOOT AT THE HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL AS GERMANY AND AMERICA HAVING GAY LURV FOR EACH OTHER" or anything like that, but the occasional fandom-spawned trope about a country I might slip out. Unless you're a frog. Stupid frogs. No not even then. XD Even if mum and I have both gone "ehehehe we are British let us randomly quip about frogs to fill out the stereotype", neither one of us actually means it ever. Unless they're smelly frogs.

Yeah, it's certainly been a while. My msn hasn't changed fyi

Ahhhh I don't want something with such a huge ahoge to be my friend get it awayyyyy

[identity profile] chosondragon.livejournal.com on November 5th, 2010 09:23 pm (UTC)
oh lulz, that was...special. But yeah, same. xD Not a day goes by that we don't grumble about THEM WESTERN DEVILS or...somesuchsomething *coughs* But it's okay Alfred, wlu really.

Really? *adds again wtf*
............what is it again? /shot

Yeah. Hetalia fandom can be special that's a good word for it. I won't disagree with you there.... pfft. I had a whopper for breakfast. Alfred would be proud.

.... I should have seen this coming. XD Earthboundstarlight@hotmail

Please tell me I didn't just get groped by a prehensile ahoge. D:
[identity profile] carameltrap.livejournal.com on November 6th, 2010 02:44 am (UTC)
I've never watch this anime, though I have heard of it. I'll be putting that on my lift to watch. :)

Like your layout. It's clean and simple.
[identity profile] lumati.livejournal.com on November 6th, 2010 02:59 pm (UTC)
It's not too long of a series, so it shouldn't be too hard for you to watch. I'd really suggest looking it up.

It is! I really wanted somethig that was clean and simple, bright and refreshing after how the last one had been kinda dark and gloomy.
[identity profile] goldengrimoire.livejournal.com on November 6th, 2010 02:12 pm (UTC)
Oh man, I love Lodoss! It was one of the first subbed anime I watched back in the day too.

And hey, Chronicles of the Heroic Knight was kind of mediocre, but it sure had a beautiful opening sequence. If the show itself had at least looked that amazing it would have been more forgivable.
[identity profile] lumati.livejournal.com on November 6th, 2010 02:57 pm (UTC)
Same here. It's such a precious series too and I really do love the characters.

Oh no, don't get me wrong! I love Kiseki no Umi! It's one of my favorite anime songs of all time!
[identity profile] lumati.livejournal.com on November 6th, 2010 02:58 pm (UTC)
Now that I think about it you're right. If the entire series had been that pretty I probably wouldn't gripe quite as much as I do.
